Art and Air
ART and AIR began in 2014 during an early-morning plein air painting session along the Delaware River near Doylestown, Pennsylvania. The sunrise became a spectacular light show, changing too quickly to paint, so I relied on photographs to capture the moment.
The collection grew from that original photo set and my impression of what I had seen. ART and AIR brings together paintings shaped by atmosphere rather than place. The scullers were added later for the visual balance I felt the collection needed.
The works range from nearly abstract paintings of light to paintings where scullers emerge briefly within the landscape, but the thread remains the same - air, movement and the changing surface of water.
