A Richmond, VA-based artist whose work is deeply influenced by his background in Urban Design and Landscape Architecture. A graduate of the University of Virginia, University of Melbourne, and George Washington University, he brings a keen eye for spatial composition and atmospheric depth to his paintings. In addition to being a practicing Landscape Architect, Urban Planner, and Designer, Jim teaches illustration and design at Virginia Commonwealth University. His work captures the interplay between built and natural environments, often incorporating figures to convey scale and human interaction. Inspired by his travels across North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia, he refines his compositions through on-site studies, memory, and photography, using a limited color palette to create unity and expressive tonal range.
