Solitude is the culminating painting from a small series inspired by Monet’s garden pond at Giverny. The earlier works began as small studies exploring the quiet work that once kept the famous pond clear — gardeners moving slowly through the lilies beneath the hanging willows.
 
In this final painting, the figure becomes small within the larger landscape, surrounded by luminous greens, drifting lily pads, and reflections of light across the water. The garden feels still and expansive, allowing the viewer to experience the quiet rhythm of the pond itself.
